Pistol Permit Administration

Have you made the decision to get your pistol permit but are overwhelmed by the huge packet of materials handed to you? No worries! We will utilize my knowledge of the NYS pistol permit system to get you through the process without having a nervous breakdown. As a Notary Public, I am able to provide the additional service of notarizing your papers without you having to try and find a Notary. My assistance with the paperwork is not a guarantee you'll receive your permit, but it is a guarantee the process will go easy for you!

Cost: $25 includes notary and postage (if applicable)

Pistol Shopping Assistant

Got your permit and now you're ready to purchase a firearm? But now you feel intimidated walking into a gun shop with all the choices and the knowledgeable people? I get it, I was there once. It really doesn't have to be a difficult or scary process. Besides, I love to gun shop! And, it's a bonus when I see the look on someone's face when they pick up that one firearm that just. feels. right. I'm here to be your blocker from people with bad advise, your adviser, your teacher but mostly, your biggest cheerleader!

Session time: Depends on how long you want to shop!

Cost: $20/hour plus any fees for range use/ammo (if applicable)

Pistol 101

Three to four hour session that focuses on the basics of owning or shooting a pistol. Starting with a focus on firearm safety, this session focuses on different types of pistols, loading/unloading, grip, sight picture, and sight alignment. This class works on skills needed for shooting without going to the range. Even if you do not own a pistol yet, this class is great to feel out whether or not you are wanting to continue on your journey of owning a firearm.

Session Time: 3-4 hours

Cost: $75

NRA Basic Pistol

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is teaches you the basics of pistol shooting from firearm safety, identifying pistol types and parts, how to safely shoot a pistol, and pistol maintenance! Includes a live fire section with optional qualification if you choose. For others, it’s a great refresher course to the basics. This course is a great first step for you to be introduced to pistols and preparing you for the journey to obtaining your concealed carry permit.

Class time: 8 hours

Cost: $100

NRA Personal Protection in the Home

After receiving your concealed carry permit, learning the basics and having practiced the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, the next level of training must include the defensive use of a handgun. This class teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family. It will provide information on the law-abiding individual's right to self-defense. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law. How to choose a handgun for self-defense and continued opportunities for skill development.

Situational Awareness

"This is a crazy world we live in." Common words these days, but have you ever thought about how close the crazy is to you? Have you ever walked through a parking lot and gotten a weird feeling? Have you ever been 'creeped out' by a person around you? In this course you will learn about Colonel Jeff Cooper's 4 levels of situational awareness and how to apply them in your day to day life. We'll talk about using your 'gut feelings' to your advantage and we'll look at some situations to understand why being aware is the first step in self defense.

Session Time: 3-4 hours

Cost: $75

Self Defense

Okay, so maybe you've decided you don't want the responsibility of a firearm. Or you know that you won't be able to carry all the time (many employers don't allow firearms on premise). But you know that you need to do something to protect yourself. With some of the best trainers in the area, we will learn the art of self defense. We will also discuss other common options of tools to use for self defense.
